No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer grew up in a family of 5 in which he enjoyed participating in various card games at a young age. He discovered himself getting really competitive in the above-mentioned card games as he was competing against his father. After finishing Sr. High school, Howard made a decision to put college on hold for a little bit and moved away to New York City to play some serious chess. While competing in chess, he was brought in to a poker game going on in the back of the room. Howard’s 1st two years were difficult as he would play extensive hours and don’t win a majority of the time. He earned some additional money by becoming an runner for the poker enthusiasts. He judged he could better his game by adjusting his life away from poker. He made an attempt to acquire more sleep and focus more on the game.

The definite improvement in his game happened when he started gambling at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the best gamblers would regularly wager against each other. He had access into some of the best minds in chess. With their assistance, Howard would hone his strategic thinking techniques. Howard applied these strategic ideas to the game of NL hold’em.

He also helped his sibling Annie Duke master the game of poker. Annie Duke was an excellent student of poker as she would consistently be asking questions about how to make the correct decision. He told Annie to head out to Sin City and play in the WSOP competition. Annie is one of the strongest women players the poker arena today. He relocated to Vegas in 1993 and participated in cash games for the subsequent 10 years. When the World Poker Tournament gained popularity, he made the decision to compete in more tournaments.
