No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative feedback from others destroy his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil started competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated a number of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an undying passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
