Annie Duke might not have captured her 1st WSOP Bracelet until 2004 but she is still one of the most powerful poker competitors around the ring games at The Bellagio in Vegas. Annie’s long-overdue WSOP bracelet came with success at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.
While competitors from the "young crowd" of poker go berserk following a big win at the tables, Annie heads home to be "mom" to her four kids. She was born in NH and was raised into a family of card players. If you do not accept that, have a look at her brother, Howard Lederer, when he plays, Howard taught Annie how to compete in the game.
However, Annie Duke is not a small fry kind of girl and has captured her share of challenging games, including knocking out Howard along the way on numerous occasions.
Earning over $3 million in tournament action, Annie became a consultant to both UltimateBet and actor Ben Affleck, who aspired to hone his skills and become a big player in poker.
You might just encounter Annie at the Bellagio, you will catch her on the television and you might even compete against her in an online poker match, but do not bank on a simple win. Unless you are a rising star, you won’t beat her. although, it would be fun to say you played at the same table as "The Duke".
